I was just wondering how to free up my governor. an old US
navy video on YouTube says flush with
engine oil every week, and flush with tricloroethane every year!!! i believe the latter is a vicious carcinogen!!!
basically it is gummed up with probably some black waxy goo stopping the flyweights ..um...flying. i have sprayed in some light eucalyptus
oil (this being Oz) with some success, then added a lightish
engine oil. encouraging but not the total solution. the governor now vaguely obeys the throttle, which is better than before.
can i interchangeably use injector cleaner (hydrocarbons), either neat or in the oil sump of the governor, at a high concentration? or lube oil or
diesel conditioner? or even bicarbonate of soda in hot
water, pumped thru? (then flushed with new engine oil?)
any chemical ideas welcome - also any ideas for 'mini muffs' and a diversion from the engine
water pump in order to create a pressurised/heated closed circuit flush!
thanks in advance
