What's in Discharge?

I have a Yanmar 4JH3-e, 600hr's, haven't run her hard in a couple of months. I start her weekly to operating temp. today the water is calm at the marina and I noticed a trail of what I think is carbon on the water. It has no color and when I run a white cloth through the water the cloth comes out clean. just wondering what it is??

Re: What's in Discharge?

Probably soot out of the exhaust manifold. Diesels with dry exhaust stacks often leave soot specks on deck.
