Hi everyone,
First post here so i hope i am in the right section
I am looking for a recommendation to source a new wet exhaustelbow for a Perkins 4108 - what price am I looking at for this ?
‘Not sure where you are but I get great service with Perkinsparts out of Trans Atlantic Diesel (TAD) in VA. I just rebuilt my exhaustelbow with black iron pipe fittings I got from McMaster Carr.
Also try parts4engines (don’t think they carry marine elbows though) TAD is very good but a little pricier and I think TAD sells a stainless version $$ but should last. Folley is another but I have no experience with them.
Perkins 4.108 motors have been marinized by many different companies over the years using various designed exhaust outlets. They can be fabricated by local engineering shops possibly cheaper than a new one or a handy person.
Diecon engineering Brisbane made a range exhaust componets, they are no longer trading but you may able to track down who got their patterns etc. All Marine spares Brook Vale Sydney, may be able help with new or second hand parts.
Foley Engines out of Massachusetts near Boston. Cheapest I found after I spent $$$ having it made because the Yard I was at did not know where else to look. Foley has any and all things for Perkins. The only bother is that one of the salesman is a prized prig. Bon Vente
I remember getting a quote of something like $250. I made one from bronze pipe fittings. A close nipple, a 45 deg elbow, another close nipple, tee with a bushing for a 1" water inlet and a hose barb for the outlet. It sounds big but it looks OK. I also coated the whole mess with thick coat of white silicone sealant as an insulation.
