My
Westerbeke W80 has an auxiliary
heat exchanger that was installed by the previous owner adjacent to the
engine. I don't know why it was installed or if the
engine had
cooling issues before, but I have no reason to believe the factory
heat exchanger is inadequate. Best I can think is that it was done out of an abundance of caution, as he also duplicated many of the other systems (alternators, chargers, strainers, etc.) I'm thinking about removing it, as the
plumbing blocks some access to part of the engine bay.
Good idea or bad one? Anyone have any experience with this engine or it's sisters? It's based on British Leyland 4/98.
