Re: Westerbeke 40 Water Pump

I second the flying dutchman option - I shipped my pump from my
Yanmar 12Y15 to him - for $140 total counting return shipping it looked
like brand new - Excellent company!

Re: Westerbeke 40 Water Pump

Probably not much help, but I have a discontinued 2009 Westerbeke 55 (Isuzu block). The $600+ Westerbeke pump is a Johnson pump (about $200).

Don't we love marine markup?

For freshwater pump my block is a Mitsubusi K4F and you can get that for about $70
It's a 1981 W40 re-built by Atlantic Diesel four years ago. Got about 600 hours on it since re-build.

Thanks for the tip on Flying Dutchman - that looks like the easy way, and not expensive.

Re: Westerbeke 40 Water Pump

All pumps are rebuildable. Depco has parts and does rebuilding. Bigger marine suppliers carry individual parts. Even shafts. I rebuild all of mine, raw water and coolant pumps for Detroit, Onan, and Perkins. Raw water pumps are easy, coolant a little more trouble because of pressing on and off the pulley & impeller and matching commercially available seals and bearings.
Ebay is a good source for spares and parts.
