Westerbeke 4-107 exhaust elbow/riser?

I'm not sure if this is called a riser or an elbow, but it is showing signs of salt crystals weeping through externally about 1" up from the where the hose is connected at the bottom. Does anyone have a source for these (I am in the US)?

Alternatively, can these be welded/fixed?

Thanks in advance!

Probably too far gone for repair by its appearance but hard to tell from photo.

Try exhaust elbow.com or HDI marine for cheaper & better ss ones ( I'm assuming cheaper as dont know yr model )

That part may not be Westerbeke, but a universal model. Buck Algonquin makes a somewhat similar elbow. And there are other marine hardware companies that make universal exhaust parts. I remember seeing elbows like yours, I just don't remember where.
The metal may be too fare gone to weld. If you can't find the maker, I'd have a stainless one made.

Not repairable, it’s made of cast aluminum. The above link is to the elbow.

Conversely, you can buy some bronze pipe and make your own mixing elbow.

We build them from thick wall stainless steel or bronze with minor modifications for various engines.

Re: Westerbeke 4-107 exhaust elbow/riser?

As has been mentioned before on this forum, you will also need a new flange that mounts the pipe to the engine.

I recently did a wet and dry exhaust replacement on a Yanmar 2GMF and can say you will have a near impossible job to get the exhaust elbow off of the threaded pipe.

A new flange, gasket, connecting pipe, exhaust elbow, new hose, clamps.

Try a get a parts diagram of this area. Soak the bolts, threads, nuts with Aero Kroil penetration oil several times, give them a gentle tap to allow the Kroil to penetrate.

Use a six sided socket. Use proper thread sealant.

I previously tried to repair my elbow leaks with JB Weld...no luck

Re: Westerbeke 4-107 exhaust elbow/riser?

My original equipment aluminum riser lasted 3,500 hours. It was any easy swap-out so I stayed with the aluminum.
Economics may less important if the installation is hard to reach.

Note- I had a sudden failure in the Dismal Swamp, and was able to get to port using a water activated fiberglass tape repair. I was amazed that it worked so well. I wish I could remember the name.

Have you tried looking for a perkins 4107 or 4108 elbow? the Westerbeak 4107 is the same motor as a perkins Westerbeak just martinized them for marine use.

OldCal46Skipper -- do you still make custom mixing elbows?

We have a 30B Three with a custom stainless riser built years ago by now-retired diesel mechanic.

The steel flange is the weak link (rusting/pitted and on its last legs) and something I am in search of to recreate the riser - it was a Westerbeke part going from the V-Clamp flange to a male threaded pipe that could then be welded to of SS elbows and 2" nipple - can't seem to find this anywhere...
