Volvo Penta MD2020 Seawater Pump Running Backwards

I just replaced the seawater pump on an MD2020 and now its no longer working. I appears to be running backwards as I removed the hose going to the engine and it felt like there is a vacuum. I'm at a loss.

Its going the right way, just can't get primed for some reason.

Is it possible to mount it 180 degrees from original?

That would place the cam on the opposite side and produce a vacuum on the engine.

You might be blowing bubbles under the hull.

Just a thought.

Is there a righthand and lefthand rotation option when you bought the pump. Could be it's the right pump with the wrong rotation. Long shot

Howdy, You can reason it out,the water goes the long way around on these pumps,Rotate the pump 180 deg. and it'll probably work ....or swap the hoses around,depending on your plumbing arrangement.
