OK, so it may be that the oil is being thrown out the breather hole because the level is too high... because of no dipstick...or maybe not...
In any event here are photos of a dipstick which I think will help you make a replacement for your
lost dipstick. These are from an MS 25 gearbox, so the dimensions may not perfectly match your MS 10 box, but the idea should
work OK.
The dipstick is a hollow
steel tube, pressed into the 17mm hex filler cap. The breather hole in the tube is 2mm diameter and it is located 5 mm down from the underside of the cap. The breather hole in the tube is about 180* opposite from the vent hole exit in the cap. The “full” mark on the dipstick is 10 mm up from the bottom of the dipstick. The bottom of the dipstick is the “low” mark.
