That problem with mud at the bottom of the tank. It is mostly related to big tanks with plenty of fuel sitting there over many years.


I too removed our tank after maybe 15 years in service. There was only a marginal amount of dirt there. I was in fact very (positively) surprised.


The tank is about 10 gallons big and gets emptied in about 24 hrs of motoring.


The story looked quite differently on a big Oyster I helped maintaining, with hundreds of gallons stored ...

Used to have a MD7A, but with the CAV pump. Got the same problem, unless I bled everything in the correct order. Usually primary, secondary, HP pump, injectors.
Only advice I would say is WRITE the sequence in you own words, and exactly what you need to do (including tool list) in the back of your logbook or similar. You will have forgotten by next time, and there will be a next time!
