Hi Sailing Friends,

I have a Cape Dory 28 with water drain plug for the engine manifold-- it's on its last legs as the butterfly drain plug has rusted out. I have the engine manual and ordered a replacement plug using the part number, but it was obviously much larger than what was in the engine. To make things worse I misplaced the original fitting when I removed it.I figured the new one was going to fit. It's very close to a 1/8" thread pipe fitting-- but metric. Does anyone know a part number that does fit, or a hack that can work to plug the hole? Pictures below.

You can use a matching bolt engulfed in liquid gasket (Nural, etc.)

The original part is better because the metals match and there is no corrosion.

If you use a bolt, try to find a soft steel one. SS second best (more corrosive).

As far as I know that one isn't metric, it is 1/8" thread. Olsson Parts here in Sweden have an aftermarket replacement part but I don't think they ship outside EU. The original part number I think was 840292 but that one is no longer available from Volvo Penta.
