No, there's not one in the
md2b. I had the same engine on my last
boat that always amazed me. Over 20 years of raw
salt water flowing through the block, 7 years and thousands of hours later it was still running great when I
sold the
boat. Every time I started the engine the first 10 seconds of
water pumped out the back would be rust colored before clearing up. Just good quality steal and heavy wall thickness for the
cooling passages. The important thing to remember is when the boat is in the
water, it's necessary to run the engine at least once a week, the stagnant water becomes more electrolytic and speeds up the
corrosion if it's allowed to sit in there. Another usefull tidbit, the smallest orifice in the
cooling passages is in the thermostat housing, so if you get a blockage from any debris it's almost always in that thermostat housing. Use a good
raw water strainer, my boat didn't even have one when I got it.
