Volvo D2-50 Vibration

We have a significant vibration around 2500 rpm in the Volvo D2 50hp in our 2022 FP Astrea 42 with ~ 100hrs.



I took delivery of the boat late March 2022 and about half way through the 1200nm delivery, the vibration developed. We backed the speed down and vibration calmed-down.


Both engines have had their initial service (with mounts checked), yet the vibration continues.

Any thoughts ?

Well it could be a fouled or damaged propeller but anything else will be a warranty discussion with the manufacturer of the boat or the engine. If it has propeller shafts, there’s a chance that it’s slightly bent from an unnoticed prop strike ....or do you have saildrives?

We have line-cutters on the props and I've dived the saildrives. Sounds like a warranty issues...
