Our 2003T had well over 5000 hours when we sold
, and running great.
Over the years we swore a lot at the cooling
system, as the heat exchanger
coolers are true pieces of excrement and basically unobtainable. We finally solved
these issues with aftermarket units (from Lenco) mounted off the engine (only very minor modifications to the engine needed).
The turbo is a readily-available unit (separate from Volvo), and easily rebuildable by any competent shop (we had ours done in Mexico).
The block has been bullet-proof. Injectors are Bosch and no issues.
We blew the coupler between the engine and tranny, but it was fixable in Mexico
. A known weakness. Worth inspecting.
All in all, although we worried a bit about the Volvo
, our only regret is not modifying the cooling
system years earlier.
