Update Requested on Gore-tex Packing

I remember a thread where people were looking at installing Gore-tex shaft packing.

I have been unable to find that thread but wondered if I could get updates on how happy those who installed were with its performance after using it for some time?

Regards,

I'd say we are happy with ours. Did both the rudder shaft and prop shaft about 1.5 years ago.

Re: Update Requested on Gore-tex Packing

It's more than seven years on my last packing job using it, and no issues at all. I've hardly had to tighten it in all that time, but my stern gland also has a grease fitting and a set up so I can pump grease down there once or twice a season. Seems to work well.

I called the Gore folks listed on their web page, they referred me to iMarine in Florida to buy small quantity. Price for two foot piece of 1/4" was reasonable, their shipping cost to Massachusetts I believe is a bit too high, but what's a guy to do. Pay the amount they want if you don't have a local supplier.
