Universal M-35

Hello,

I have just purchased a 1993 36 Catalina with a Universal M-35. I have just replaced all fuel filters, done an oil change cleaned the heat exchanger and have done a good sea test and changed the fuel filters again as the tank got stirred up. Every now and then the engine makes a whining/groaning noise, (its only done this twice),
Has anyone had this problem or recognise this noise?
Any help or advice would be awesome.

Is the noise from the engine or the transmission?
