to rebuilt or sale as is

recently I removed my diesel engine "original 1989 volvo 2002 with about 575 hours ,
what will be a better choice to rebuilt it title by little and get it back working fine to sell it as one piece or to sell it "as is " and extra parts and shaft separately
this is in order to recoup some of the cost of the new one
all advice is welcome

Re: to rebuilt or sale as is

might be easier to sell, but you are unlikely to "profit" by rebuilding it

Re: to rebuilt or sale as is

What are you calling "rebuild"?

If a full top to bottom overhaul, you'll lose your ass on the sale, but if you were willing to go this far, then why buy new at all?

If you're talking about replacing some hoses and maybe a leaky gasket and painting, then you at make out ok.

This is all dependent on what you're starting out with.

Yes, thats why I don't want to buy rebuilt. All that money and all you know is that it looks pretty.

Re: to rebuilt or sale as is

Unless you ran out of oil or greatly overheated the engine should run. A boat with no engine or non working engine is worth a lot less. An engine rebuilt by someone qualified probably won't return all the money, but more than a boat engineless.

Sell it as-is. It would be foolhardy to invest $ in an engine you wish to sell.
