Thermal camera in engine room

While listening to a broker extoll the virtues of a particular navigation system, he said it “also has connections for a couple cameras. You could even put a thermal one down in the engine room to alert you to any hot spots before they become problems.” Then he went on talking about the rest of the boat’s features and I soon got distracted talking about something else.

Thinking back afterwards about having a thermal camera down there seems like pure genius. Are any of you doing that? If so, what kind of camera are you using? Anything that makes it less-than-genius that I’m not aware of?

Talk to me......
