Temperature gauge

Hey all, I have a Yanmar 2qm20 and I’d like an engine temp audible alarm as well as an electric gauge to monitor fluctuations, any suggestions how to rig this?

Re: Temperature gauge

Our Volvo engine doesn't have a temperature gauge. After an incident many years ago when we didn't know about an overheat situation until the alarm went off, I purchased a wireless BBQ thermometer and used aluminum tape to tape it to the engine. I keep the receiver in the cockpit. I can set an alarm for any temp I want and get a digital read out of temperature all the time. Very cheap to implement.

Re: Temperature gauge

I dunno what part of the world you are in but here are two similar options available in Australia. I guess there are similar items elsewhere.

Easy to install, multiple options available, you set the alarm points, direct reading display.

ENGINE WATCHDOG Audible Engine Overheating Alarm, Gauge & Sensor

https://engineguard.com.au/shop/

I have used the Engine Watchdog with 2 sensors on a 2GM20. One sensor attached to the head near the thermostat and the other on the exhaust just after the mixing point. It worked well.

$140 for the dual sensor kit, that’s good value for what it is
