Solenoid Help

Okay so my old direct drive starter went out on my Perkins 4.108. Ordered new starter. Installed it fit perfect. Here is my problem.

the old solenoid had two large prongs one to battery one into starter. It also had a small prong on the left and right, each with a wire hooked up. The battery post at tip had the battery cable and one other wire hooked up. So I have new starter installed, fit great, easy to put I. However the new solenoid does not have a prong on the right. I guess the three pronged solenoid is grounded through the body, but how do I hook the wires back up?

Re: Solenoid Help

I just looked at my starter on an 85 4-108 it only has 1 large lug with big wire from battery and 2 small prongs on either side and looking from front of starter only 1 wire connected to left prong and right prong no wires connected, any wire from main lug is hot all the time

Re: Solenoid Help

As usual problem was simpler than I was making it out to be. I had wired it correctly but battery was low due to my excessive crank attempts when diagnosing the original problem. Started Genny and the engine got going smoothly.turned Genny off, let engine run for 30 mins and all is well. Thank you
