Re: Sea intake becomes ineffective at high revs

After you check the hoses leading to the pump don’t forget about the mixing elbow..... not familiar with the engine, however if you have buildup in the mixing elbow it will restrict flow....... when you say doesn’t work do you mean as no water of not sufficient water??

As was said..... it’s there for you to find!

Re: Sea intake becomes ineffective at high revs

Only have time for short response sorry
If the engine seems to be struggling there may be exhust retriction referred to as back pressure. Not the most likely thing to happen but a remote plausibility.

Re: Sea intake becomes ineffective at high revs

2 other areas I have had issues with reducing flow while you are checking:

My RW pump has a bronze elbow directly on pump that feeds to my heat exchanger. Found (4!!) impeller blades lodged in that 90 degree elbow while rebuilding pump this spring. Amazed I was getting flow. Also chuckled that I was never finding them in the heat exchanger

Also, at the heat exchanger inlet, on the RW side, salt was precipitating out and necking down the inlet. Was 1" hose and probably 75% blocked. Scraped out with pocket knife. I have to do this every 2 years as maintenance.
