I have a Westerbeke 42B with a JS
gearbox. I'm trying to remove the gearbox (to replace) and it will not move back more than 1/2 inch. There are no clearance issues, nothing (hose,
cables, etc.) keeping it from pulling out. One source says it could be
corrosion on the spline. I have worked on this for an hour so if there was any
corrosion I should have worked passed it by now. Is it possible that the transmission and the bell housing have to be removed as a unit? I find this hard to believe but needed to ask the question. Anyone have a detailed exploded schematic of the JS. I have notice all documents I have seen diagrams showing the gearbox separated from the bell housing?
