The PO of my 28 had a
Yanmar 2GM20F installed some years back. Making ~16hp, I've found it to be a great fit for the
boat. Though I didn't do the
work, it looks like a relatively straightforward job to me as a non-professional, but experienced shade-tree
mechanic.
My
Sabre also had the LH-rotating MD7A
Volvo originally and I can corroborate that the
boat handles very well even with the RH-rotating propshaft on the starboard side. I don't have the exact specs in hand, but the prop is pretty much as Engineman described above, 13-14" fixed two-blade. I can make enough prop wash to be useful in certain cases (pivoting in tight quarters,
docking port-side-to), but otherwise it's not very noticeable. Even backs pretty straight.
