It is probably OK to plug the engine connections but I would check with Yanmars first
In any event, I agree with others that having the free heat from the engine is worth it (unless your cruising style is unusual)

I would seriously disagree there, if you are not using engine water to heat domestic hot water then plug the hoses.
If you use a loop, you may bypass too much water from the engine cooling and thus overheat at least part of the engine. Do not ask me how I know, but my wallet discovered this many years ago!! Plug the fittings, or at least cut the hoses short and plug the ends of the hoses.

Could you elaborate? I am having trouble understanding how looping instead of plugging could cause part of the engine to get too hot.
