Replacing Dual Lever Control with Single Lever Control ?

How difficult? Costs?
Possible on an Endeavour 35 of 1984?
Anybody did the conversion? happy with the results?

Thank you for sharing the experience with me

Alec

Re: REplacing Dual Levers Control by Single Lever Control?

Out of curiosity, why would you want to go to a single lever? We have a single level Morse control and I wish I had 2 controls!

My single lever Morse selects FWD and REV, and advances the throttle perfectly. Pull center pin to disengage gear. It is 40yrs old.

Question of taste ?

Seriously I had single control on a jeanneau and I loved it
In the Endeavour the controls are not well located and I have quite some bruises on the back of my hands
and dock maneuvering is easier for me with a single .. just my opinion...

I almost replaced our single lever recently and the price I was quoted for a Vetus single lever morse shifter was $235 plus shipping.

I replaced my entire pedestal last winter with a new Edson vision series unit. Went from dual controls to single. There was nothing difficult about the conversion and Edson sells the control separately. I went with new cables and spent some time getting leads nicer and tension right but have been very happy. I prefer having one hand available for the wheel and the other for controls. Obviously YMMV.

I went from a duel lever at knee high to single lever on a pedestal. It was a world of difference. No more switching the wrong lever or bending over to shift/throttle. Docking was a bitch w/duel levers.
It was just a matter of moving cables and making the adjustments, thats all.

Any pictures Del. I like the idea of doing that on my boat. Problem is I have dual stations as wel and don't know if it will work.

I did the edson conversion for my edson binnacle on my Pearson 424. It was not particularly difficult, but it was kinda expensive

I'll buy your old controls if they are the Morse with dual removable levers. Let me know if you decide to do it.
