As mentioned above, the VP MD2030 engine is built on a Shibaura/Perkins block, and is good for many hours. The D1-30 engine is also built on a Shibaura/Perkins block, just the next generation. It too will go for many hours.
To answer the question which you asked, yes, your MS2-A gear
box can be fitted to the D1-30 engine, but the bits and pieces are a little different than those used on the 2030.
The flywheel housings on the two engines are different. The 2030 has a larger adapter plate that the gearbox bolts to, while the D1-30 uses a different, smaller adapter plate for the ZF based gearboxes used today.
For you to use your MS2 gear
on a D1-30 you would need to source an adapter plate as shown here in the first photo
. This is available from VP as shown in the first photo
, or also itís the same basic plate currently used on the 130 saildrive
. Both would work
Secondly you would need to swap the torsional damper supplied on the D1-30 engine with a different one as was supplied on the old 2030 engine. The bolt pattern is the same. Second photo..
