I am on my second Volvo Penta
and my third Silette Sonic drive! I am fed up!
Recently crossing the South China
Sea we had a huge lightning
strike, which blew all my electronics
( chart plotter, AIS
, lights,every thing)
Including the engine control panel
, so to start the engine
I have to jump the starter and then flash the field wire on the alternator
have quoted me over US 2000 to replace the control box
, harness, and instruments, with no guarantee that this will work
, I have had enough, I will use it as a mooring
I am thinking of a diesel outboard
, or a pair of 10-15s, Does anyone have any experience of this, or any advice? Please any contribution will be gratefully received.
The only up side is I ended up in Labuan, in Malaysia
, and the beer
is about US $ 12 for a case of 24, I may just stay here!!!
,Many thanks, Moggie
