Raw Water got into crankcase

The vented loop on input into the mixing elbow failed. In the process of repairing it seems some water got into the cylinder (s) and into the engine oil. The engine did start and run fine. Elapsed time for this problem was 24 hours.

Oil turned milky. I changed oil to get rid of the water. After one change it still looks milky. Do I keep changing oil to get rid of residual? Or have I done something more serious and now have a water leak?

The engine is a Yanmar 4LH-TE.

Thanks

Randy

Re: Raw Water got into crankcase

Probably some water was still in the engine after draining the oil. Sometimes the oil needs to be changed a few times. You should run the engine to normal operating temp. Heat helps separate out the water and a vertical spin on filter can hold about an ounce of water in the bottom without mixing with the oil.
