Racor R20P or R20S Filter?

On my Yanmar 3BM30F I have a Racor R20S filter installed. I've noticed on many YouTube videos dealing with fuel filter change and bleeding that it appears most are using the R20P filter.

Is there any good reason for me to change to the R20P?

It looks like the P is 20 microns, the T is ten microns and the S is 2 microns. what does Yanmar recommend? 20 sounds high and 2 sounds low to me

The P shows to be a 30 micron, while the S shows to be 2 micron.


So, P is fine for a primary fuel filter/water separator, the S would be a secondary fuel filter element.
