I recently converted an older Lucas CAV
fuel filter housing from a canister drop in filter to a spin on filter. The conversion kit came with the
boat. Of the 3
remote fuel filters (2 were already converted) this was the last on.
I am using a Fleetguard FS1235 spin on filter. Enclosed with the new filter is a thick flat rubber washer. I called Fleetguard and asked them where this washer goes and was told it goes on the threaded shaft before the new filter gets screwed on. You can see the washer in question from the link below.

First the diameter of the washer is larger than the threaded shaft that the filter spins onto. Secondly when I put the washer on the shaft the filter would not seat properly. Thus leaking
fuel.
Does anyone run the Fleetguard FS1235 filter without the enclosed thick washer?
Thanks for your expertise
