Protruding Cutlass Bearing

Does anyone have an idea of why the cutlass bearing is protruding from the SS sleeve? Shouldn't the rubber gasket be flush with end of the sleeve?

Re: Protruding Cutlass Bearing

I'm struggling to see what's going on there. Do you have a SS shaft log and a composite or plastic cutless bearing?

Sometimes, depending on the design, I install the bronze cutless bearings with at least a 1/2" protruding in order to facilitate removal the next time.

The rubber insert is separated from the brass. You need to replace it and align the shaft at the same time.
