Yep your on the right track. Only 28yrs huh?!? Kinda like a mate of mine with a huge Merc truck. They had only got a million miles out of her before the engine let go. Disapointing really. They thought they might try the Merc dealer and see if they could get the repair done under some sort of warranty.

I understand what you're saying Alan

The key words here are "supposed to". If your raw water cooled engine is not cooled off sufficiently enough to close the thermostat when you restart the engine, you will suck cold water into a heated engine.
