Polyflex engine mounts

Hi, I need to replace the 4 front engine mounts on our 2 Yanmar 3gm30 engines and are leaning towards purchasing Polyflex mounts as a replacement, so I'd like to hear anyone's experiences with these mounts if any, the good ,bad and the longevity of these mounts.

Kind regards
Rod.

Re: Polyflex engine mounts

Double bubble we have polyflex engine mounts and the good thing about them is that when they wear out you just replace the yellow donut. A Polyflex flexible coupling also helps with engine vibration. We have both on our Yanmar 2gm. Polyflex is in Redcliff and are very helpful.
Cheers

Another vote for polyflex, easy to rebuild when the time comes and not that expensive.

Re: Polyflex engine mounts

Thanks, is there any recommendations on the Poly stiffness e.g, the colour, Red, Blue or Yellow and how does it rate to the Yanmar 100 series mount? Only want to do this once.

Give polyflex a call, I found them to be very helpful.

Re: Polyflex engine mounts

IIRC, Yanmar uses different hardness ratings between the front and rear mounts so you might check that with Polyflex.

FWIW, Ployflex exports a lot of mounts to Europe and AFAIK, some European Yanmar dealers fit Polyflex mounts on new installs.

Also worth checking out Ellebogen mounts - they make mounts specifically for Yanmar and Volvo small marine engines They have a very good reputation and lots of information on their website and on-line shop.

https://ellebogen.com/en/ellebogen/

Me - I would be hard pressed to choose between Polyflex and Ellebogen!

Why only the front mounts?

Re: Polyflex engine mounts

Installed a set of Polyflex mounts on my VP D1-30. I used them as a replacement after going through 2 sets of the original VP mounts that came with the engine. I got 450 hrs on the Polyflex mounts when I noticed the front two were starting to compress much more than the back two. Contacted Polyflex and they informed me that they had made a modification to the mount and the insert was now thicker. They sent me a new set for the cost of shipping only. Have them installed now with only 40hrs on them so will monitor and see how they stand up.

I'm not a cruiser or sailor. The 3 cylinder diesel engine is in a R21-EC Ranger Tug that I use strictly for fishing (80-90% trolling)meaning just in gear, low RPM's, which is the highest vibration range for this engine. I would think if the boat/engine was used as intended for normal cruising, these mounts would have lasted much longer but then again so would the VP ones probably. I will note that Polyflex has been great to deal with in regards to their original recommendation and now providing the modified replacement inserts free of charge.

Re: Polyflex engine mounts

I can't speak for the mounts, but the company itself is exceptionally good to deal with and their couplings are bullet-proof.

Yep it's a saildrive, the rear saildrive mount looks like it's in brand new condition but the front mounts on both engines have sagged out, we've ordered 4 x new Polyflex mounts so hopefully I've made the right decision.
