Re: Please let it not be the gearbox!

Final Update: That last set screw went in easy as pie (it's the one that wasn't fully seated after the keyway replacement under that transmission coupling) -- anyway, this one went in like a charm. I still have to put the monel wire thru and twist it tight (thanks for the how-to photo SkprJohn) but this job is done.

Heading off in a couple days (have one more item for the crew incoming -- due on Tuesday) then on to Carrabelle. I saw in one of those free papers a Pirate Fest was being held at the end of the month over there and that might be interesting. Now if I can find a nice close place to anchor...

Life's great afloat.
Once again gents, thank you for all the advice. Everything worked out real well and hopefully this is one thing I won't have to deal with again. However I did pick up two more set screws for the coupling, a half-dozen for the PSS, and a few more for the shaft zincs -- just in case!

Re: Please let it not be the gearbox!

Me loves a happy ending! Glad you learned so much, and truly seemed to enjoy it too...

Remember there are always CFr's like SkipJ, me and the others who are more than happy to help the best we can....

Make sure you give a "squinty Arrgh!" for me should you encounter the pirate kind...
