Perkins Prima 50 fuel return line to tank

I have a 1990 Beneteau 41S5/ It has original Perkins Prima 50 diesel engine. The fuel return line from the top of the injector pump enroute to the tank is leaking. Its old and has deteriorated. Its a approx 1/4 dia flexible hose about 36" long .Its attache witha flare type nut each end . The far end attaches to a approx 1/4 copper tube that goes on to the fuel tank. I cant find anyplace yet in Tampa to make one . Anyone?

Any hydraulic hose company should be able to sort you out. eBay?

Ballsnall. Has it....remove the return line, and take it to a hydraulic hose shop. They’ll square you away proper.

I had to do the same on my perkins 4108 last season. Diesel shop could have done it in a week or so, but the hose place did it in an hour.

Low pressure line. Is it not possible to put the proper barb fittings on each end and run a new fuel hose to both with double hose clamps on each end? What am I missing?

Right. Swaged or crimped fittings are not need here, a simple brass barb and hose clamps will be fine. Any hardware store has the parts.

Hey
I had a leaking compressoin fitting on the intake side ( hard to identify) what I did was trimming the nut down so that there was no turning let alone play on the connection
These fuel lines are very strong even if they have some signs of aging
Good luck

LOLlol I did that but the plastic inner material lining of the original hose was so decreptid that it shattered from the pressure of the new 1/4 barbed brass fitting and started leaking again!!!.

Re: Perkins Prima 50 fuel return line to tank

Im now going to remove my leaking replacment line--- try to salvage the original flaredbrass nuts on each end, remove the 1/4 brass hose mending nipples cut 2 short pieces 6"+- from 1/4 brass tubing I had, put new flares on one end of new brass tubing then try to reassemble with the tubing instead . The diferece between 6mm and 1/4" is small. so then the entire decrepit old hose is gone.

Re: Perkins Prima 50 fuel return line to tank

No hydraulic shops (3) or goodyear/parker or bosch injector local shops have the fittings! Probably because its a straight british thread BSPP on OE Perkins part k441af01 Im now trying OE parts dealer in UK parts@diperk.co.uk (recomended by parts4engines) If that does not work I will salvage the old fittings by cutting off the outer swage area and using double clamps to a new hose . Thanks all for your help as 'misery loves company'. lol
