I have a 1978 Cal
39 MkII with a 4108. It has a watermaker
that I have never used (in years). That watermaker
has (I think) a pump
with a belt system mounted in the engine
room. See photo
... red circle. It’s an old model Cat pump
. The belt has broken, so I am wondering if I need to replace it (again, I do not intend to use the watermaker anytime soon)?
Can I run the 4108 without that belt, or is the engine
timing or the tension of other belts in amy way connected to this pump and belt? I know enough about diesels engines to be dangerous.
I can’t get the image to appear in this post, but it is at Imgur linked here
