Ended up just sailing home. Now that I'm back I'm going to let a proper mechanic figure it out. I'll update with what we find out.

Sounds like a bent push rod or sticky valve

Turned out to be a failed main bearing. Rebuilding now.

Failed main bearing is a hard one to fix. Sorry for that.
