Perkins 4.108 Engine cutout Solenoid

Hello All

Having a problem trying to source the correct engine cutout solenoid for a 1984 English Perkins 4.108.

It currently doesn’t kill the engine, need to give it a good clean but want to purchase and install a new one for my next visit in April. I havent got the best photo’s but this is what it looks like:

The items that are causing concern are:

The “standard” solenoid appears to not have a horizontal mountain plate.
There is some confusion on how many pins it has or should have- all my photo’s give me the idea that there is actually 3.

I have tracked down an ONAN solenoid that appears very similar, but I am wanting some advice from others if they have a similar solenoid on there 4.108’s and if they know where to purchase one.

Thanks in Advance

Reinhardt

I have the same type of stop solenoids on my Detroits. You can find them on ebay.
Three pins are pos (on), neg, and continuous on. The continuous on uses a smaller 2nd coil and uses less power. I have 3 pin but only use the + & -. Any solenoid that pulls the required distance will work.

You can also rig a knob and cable for real cheap, best part is you don’t need to ensure the max throw like the solenoids.

That's what I've decided to do. I bought a Push/Pull cable off eBay for about $12.

Agreed, but still it would be nice to just push a button.
But a backup plan is required
