Perkins 4.108

Hello,

I am replacing the Perkins 4.108 in my sailboat.

Having the Perkins I understand how difficult some parts may be to find.

That being said I am looking to sell the parts.
- starter
- alternator (2)
- transmission
- fuel pump
- racor strainer
- aerator
- any other parts that might be needed from the block.

Thanks

Joe...

Love my perk 4108 Its a simnple meat and potatoes no frills engine. Have not ever had any difficulty getting parts. that being said.

You probably would be better off putting an ad in the classified section with prices

Re: Perkins 4.108

Thanks Marc!

I’m not looking for much, just more or less what a salvage yard might pay, rather than charge.

I had no issue with it, but I didn’t seem to have the luck you did getting replacement parts for a 40 year old diesel from England.

I was told caterpillar acquires Perkins, but I never figured out where to look for parts other than a few general diesel parts websites.

Not to hijack this, but I have 2 Perkins 4108 manuals one in English the other in French. Free to anyone that wants them.

What would you charge for the cylinder head and assembly?

Re: Perkins 4.108

I love the Perkins engines for their simplicity and rugdness. I only had problems getting parts once, for a 6.354 when in Bermuda - but very specific parts I caused failure when fixing something else...

Now I own a 4.236 and just acquired a new exhaust elbow from Trans Atlantic Diesel. My engine is the European version and they helped me source the correct part identifying it from photos I sent them.

I only have positive things to say about the support I got from Diane and Marcus, and strongly recommend them for anyone needing Perkins parts.

Hi Joe, the forum rules require that you post a price for each item.
