Penta 2002 in Catalina 30

Its time to repower my Catalina 30 mk1..someone at the marina has volvo penta 2002 for sale for a good price. Does anyone know if this engine will fit c30?

I cant say if it will fit in a C30...but I have on in my CS 30 and it is and has given me excellent service...the only draw badk is the parts..hard to find at times....

Thanks but I need to know specifically for C30. The original Atomic 4 was installed at a 15 degree angel with direct drive. This 2002 gearbox seems to be already angled and I dont know what degree. Maybe I would have to fiberglass new rails?

I did and nothing seems to have jumped out.. Can you point me to something specific that is common to these?

I would be interested as well but mine runs great right now (knock on teak). Might as well do what I have to this Winter when it's easy so let me have both barrels as well.

We have a 2003, but not in a C30, so can't help you there.

The most common reversing gear with an angle was the MS2, which had a 7 degree down angle. The engine was offered with a number of reversing gears, but I think if you're seeing an angle that's probably it.

You can get all the specs (which may help measure for yourself since no one has answered directly) here:

Enter "2002" in the "Engine Type" box and it will bring up all of the 2002 information (except of course for the service manual itself).
