Oil Return Line

my little 1gm10 got a tiny pinhole in the short oil return line i took it off had a mechanic check it out he brazed it up said it was good the tubing wall was still good, but others have said i should still get a new line. any suggestions from the engine gurus ? thanks

I am with the previous poster- replace the line.

But you also need to find what caused the pinhole. Pinholes in steel lines just don't happen without a cause. Is the line severely corroded due to saltwater? In some boats the vented loop leaks and if it is mounted over the engine will spray the engine with saltwater. The solution is to clean the loop valve and install a small section of hose and route to the bilge.

This happened on my J/32.

Keep an eye on your water pump">raw water pump. If it starts leaking from the shaft seal replace it immediately.
The 1GM and all of it's external oil passages. Carry to much potential for failure.
