Ya better tell Yanmar engineers off then coz they run the crankcase vent to intake valve side of the filter..They aren't the only manufacturer that does this. Not that I think Yanmar engineers are perfect, one look at the exhaust elbow design will convince you of that.

They do in fact sell an insert specifically for attaching the breather hose to, but it is only available for their chrome filters and in limited sizes.
