Probably does not a apply to your Yanmar, but my Universal diesel will read 1/2 quart low the day after motoring unless I pull the dipstick out a little to release some kind of low pressure. Normal full reading after re-inserting. Been like this for 10 years and have heard this is common with Universals from other owners. 1200 hours on 22 year old engine, uses no oil between changes, no leaks or smoking.
