One of the valuable things on my
boat is a pair of o-ring kits. One SAE, and one metric. Like this:

They came with a meter of o-ring stock in all the various gauges. You carefully cut them to length, and glue the ends together with CA glue. It has saved my bacon a bunch of times and can be way more efficient than the great run around trying to find the right size in a
remote location.
Just last week, I had a leak from the top of my
coolant tank/exhaust manifold on my
generator. I don't know how long it would have taken to track down the "official" part, but 20 minutes later, I had one in hand made from the metric o-ring kit, and the problem was fixed. If you don't know what material o-ring to get, Buna-N (nitrile) is good for
coolant,
fuel and
oil. Viton, while pricey, is pretty much universally good for anything you might find on a boat. Just keep it away from acetone and other ketones.
