New pedestal guard

I replaced my 1 inch pedestal guard 2 years ago with 1 1//4 inch so I could run more wires to my electronics.
With the 1 inch, the shift lever banged against the guard, as it does now with the 1 1/4 inch.
My question is: Will the small difference in the shift lever range affect the transmission, and should I adjust the linkage or let it be. It has been operating just fine. I'm just getting concerned about it . Don't want to buy a new transmission.

New pedestal guard

Dude open up the binnacle, loosen the nut that holds the lever in position, and reposition it so that it has clearance. It will be obvious once you are looking at it.

And yes it could be bad depending on how close the rest of the linkage is. But it’s easy enough to adjust.
