Need to source Perkins 4.108M head

I need to source a cylinder head for a Perkins 4.108M. I can find the non-m version all over the place. But the marine version head does not appear to be interchangeable with the non-M version.

I did manage to find one for $2000. That seems a bit steep for just a cylinder head. Any ideas on where I might find a more er... reasonably priced head?

The mechanics say the rest of the motor is in decent condition. So ideally, I would like to just replace the head rather than the whole engine. They just can't find one.

Have you tried www.parts4engines.com ?
They are based in the UK and have a lot of Perkins parts.

I would call them and talk to them as they may not have one in stock but might have a line on one before it hits the shelf.

Transatlantic Diesels Inc. is worth a try.

eBay usually has someone parting out a 4108.

Zugcat, what did you find about the marine and non-marine cylinder heads are noninterchangable? I need to find a head myself and this was new information for me.

I guess he has the heat exchanger in mind attached to the cylinder head. But the cylinder heads itselfs are equal as far as I know.

It has to do with the glow plug.

The heads should be interchangeable, most 4-108’s use a manifold heater and the glow plug version is very uncommon. Do a search on the headgaskets, if there is a difference with them then the heads won’t be interchangeable.
Try browsing tractor forums rather than marine.....and you should have better luck in the UK

For a quicker response, you should PM Tom directly or try to respond through the Cal 46 for sale ad. https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ri-237694.html
