Nanni Diesel Parts in USA?

I'm in New Jersey and need an air filter for my Nanni 4.150HE, 37.5hp engine. Per Nanni's web page, there is one supplier in the USA, MSHS in FL. They don't stock the air filter and need to have it shipped from France. They quote $56 filter + $50 for shipping... $106!

There has got to be a better source for Nanni parts in the US. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Zach

The Nanni Diesel range of marine engines are based on three engine makers, Kubota, Toyota and VM Motori.

Thanks GordMay. Yes, it is the V1505 Kubota, but the air filter is part of the Nanni marinization package. The ebay auction you cite ended last April and is not currently listed as available. You can see, it was going for $1 plus $6 shipping, which I'd be happy to pay, but at $106 today... No thank you!

Have a look at this site. Exclusive distributor in Canada, based in la belle province (Quebec).

Delblanc

I'd be interested in thoughts about Nanni diesels. Reliability, ease of service, general availability of parts world wiide, etc.

I'm looking at a boat with a new N4.60 installed.

Re: Nanni Diesel Parts in USA?

With that sort of availability/price schedule, I'd be looking to adapt some standard, readily available filter to the engine. And remember, that many (most??) marine diesels have no air filter at all.... my Nanni 43 hp has none.

How about a picture of the filter. I can guarantee you that nanni didn't build the air filter.

Edit:

I'll bet the housing and element are made by Donaldson. These paper filters are on all types of Kubota equipment.

Sailmonkey. The ebay link above has a pic. It is a custom molded plastic housing around a filter element, I assume. You have to replace the whole assembly, not just the paper filter.

I stand corrected.....I've never seen a filter quite like that.

I would be tempted to do some surgery on it and see what makes it tick and find a Fram to adapt to it. If it needs replacement anyway I can't see a down side if the patient dies.

Just make sure if it acts as a spark arrester you maintain that quality.

Re: Nanni Diesel Parts in USA?

Take it to another source and try to match one up. Many marine diesels don't have anything but a perforated metal thing to keep big chunks out.

Re: Nanni Diesel Parts in USA?

I agree with those who suggest using a different air filter. These things are not complicated and all you would really have to do is match the port size.

There is another outfit in the Seattle area that carries Nanni parts but they also just order from France. I got a quote of $350 for a starter but, after checking serial numbers on the old starter, found an exact replacement on ebay for $30

Re: Nanni Diesel Parts in USA?

Cut the side out of your Nanni & adapt a flame arrestor from ebay?

Boat Marine Engine Bendix B175 34 Carburetor Flame Arrestor Chris Craft 283 | eBay

or check out speed shops such as Summit Racing, etc.

Re: Nanni Diesel Parts in USA?

IIRC, flame arresters are not required on diesel engines.

Jim,

I had a worn out bulldozer that could belch flame on shut down. The assemblies on the blower intakes on 671 two valves seemed to be more arrestor than filter.
