Mercury 9.9 pro kicker starting problems

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I make rookie mistakes.
That said, I have a 2015 Mercury 9.9 prokicker. The small primer bulb on the front of the engine split and I have replaced it. The problem is it will start but only run for a few seconds. I don't use the engine often,(unfortunately), and was hoping someone could give me some feedback on my issue. Also, I have some of those devices that you put on the bottom of the motor to feed water to it but it isn't "peeing" when I try to start the motor.
