Mercury 3.5 hp 4 stroke problems

I have a 2009 Mercury 3.5 4 stroke S/NOR297474. I have noticed oil leaking out of the fire flashback screen on the carburetor. The engine starts, idles and runs good, however, I am concerned about the seepage of oil. Can anyone suggest a fix or solution?

Did this happen after the engine was stored on its side?

Stange place to find oil, outside Mark's suspicion. The only place above the carb throat that I can think could contain oil would be the overhead valves. I'm still having a hard time envisioning oil leaking down from there and going into the carb throat rather than into the cylinder and burning. White smoke? Worn valve stem oil seals?

Re: Mercury 3.5 hp 4 stroke problems

Took the carb off again, rebuilt (blew out all ports, inspected the needle valve, then after that used carb cleaner all ports, made sure all holes were clear of debri) no results!! The oil seems to come from the black attachment in front of of the carb where the larger hose attaches and the SS flash fire screen is located.

The motor has been stored in the vertical position, hasn't been in any horizontal
position.
