Melted Rubber Parts on Jabsco Pump

Pulled my Jabsco 3270 pump off to rebuild it. Disassembly went well until I got to the removal of the slinger and lip seals. These rubber parts appear to have been subjected to severe heat without lubrication/grease and have essentially melted to the brass housing. I’ve tried acetone, scraping, low heat, and chiseling but can’t seem to get this residue off and, therefore, am unable to complete the rebuild. Any advice about how to proceed? Propane torch? Thank you in advance.

Re: Melted Rubber Parts on Jabsco Pump

Hi,

Did you manage to get this job done? Can you tell me how?
I seem to be having the same issues. Trying to replace the seals, but they stick to the pumphouse. Using pliers I just get pieces off, but large parts remain sticking to the house.

thanks for answering...

‘Twas a long and challenging process. I ultimately used a Dremel rotary tool starting with soft bits and proceeded to use coarser tips until I felt the line between clean and misshapen was met. Can’t get on the boat so unsure of success. I’ll let you know in May, if you like.
