MD7A experts - What to watch out for?

I am looking at a boat this weekend with a running Volvo MD7A engine. Boat has been fresh in water all it's life. Have done a search and read through some of the threads but there are a lot of comments, and I don't have time to wade through all of them before I view the boat. So...

Any suggestions as to what to look/watch out for with the engine? Particularly visual clues that there may be an issue? I'm looking for MD7A specific issues. I have enough experience to catch 'common' things like external leaks and the like.

It is doubtful that the engine can be run, especially for any length of time; boat is on the hard.

Thanks in advance!

Gary

Just a warning on Volvo parts prices. They are extremely high so if you think it needs a rebuild put the cost of a replacement engine in your calculation of boat value.

MD 7A at least 40yrs old even if well serviced for its entire life it’s getting long in the tooth even for a verry good engine ,factor in a rebuild or replacement in the price of the vsl .⚓️⛵️
